The Private Eye

The Private Eye by Joe Dobson
The private eye performs a service for a client. Whether it be a private individual or acorporate body [ company or firm ] not the police, military or any other governmentorganisation.
The kind of service the private eye performs is usually, but not limited to, thegathering of relevant information about a third party/parties.
Because the information required by the client can be very broad and far reaching theprivate eye needs to be experienced in many investigative methods.
A private eye can gain this experience in a variety of ways. He can join a firm of private investigators, he could have served in military intelligence, the police or witha government body.
As the field of private investigation is so vast there is a danger the private eye may well become a “jack of all trades and master of none” and so he may decide to specialise.
If the private eye decided to become expert in collecting information about the infidelitiesof a clients spouse to be used in a divorce case, then the bulk of his expertise would be gained in covert surveillance work.
There are of course many areas in which the private eye could specialise:
SurveillanceFind a personTrace and position mobile phonesDivorce investigationsFind anyones current employerFind a person by use of a utility company.Database record searches / Background investigation - find information like, employment history, civil history, criminal history, medical history.Child custody disputes - Acquire proof that a person isn't fit for custody.Telephone number investigations:Ex-directory Number -Cell PhoneTelephone NumberDisconnected NumberPager Trace.Internet Surveillance & Monitoring - Find out what sites are being visited by a person, read their emails and forum posts. Business Help - Employment screenings.Tenant screenings.Solicitor/lawer services.Photography and videography. Victim assistance. Nanny cams/hidden cameras.Search rubbish/garbage bins.DNA/Parernity testing.Polygraph testing.Protection (Body guards/ escort services) - High profile, or low profile.Collection of child support payments. Electronic eavesdropping.Insurance fraud investigations.Accident scene investigations.Special assignments - Anything else you can think of, Private eyes can usually do.
When carried out by a professional private eye, all of the above activities arecompletely undetectable and untraceable.
A private eye must be licensed and insured and also must abide by the laws ofthe country/state in which he/she operates.

(except help kill someone)
There are certain rules one must follow when choosing a personal investigator. When finding a private investigator, make sure they have a private investigators license. Also keep in mind that the work that a private investigator does is strictly confidential and stays between you and them. So if the person you're talking to doesn't guarantee confidentiality, then don't bother talking to them again. Another important thing to keep in mind is that all investigators need to be insured. This way, while they are uncovering information that YOU hired them to, and they happen to harm someone, break, or damage anything, then you are not held liable for compensation. A reputable investigator should have no problem presenting a certificate of insurance coverage for you to review and verify. Finally, make sure you get a contract done up, and you read it very carefully. These things will protect you, and help you find a reliable and trust worthy personal investigators.
